Richport was founded three decades ago by Rick Porter who got his start in the industry as a teenager, working in his uncle's building business.

Growth and Innovation

During the 1970’s and 80’s Richport Properties grew tremendously, and the business expanded into real estate sales and development. Growth was purposeful and always reflected a passion for conservation and the environment. That passion led Richport to build the area's first Greenspace/conservation new home community - Apalachee Heritage in Dacula, Georgia. To date, the firm has proudly placed over 400 acres under conservation, with additional projects planned. Richport is known for pioneering the concept of 'street tree communities.' New home communities in Gwinnett County, such as Bradstone and Village Grove, demonstrate that new home construction can coexist beautifully with old growth and that new trees along the roadway soften the streetscape and help calm traffic. Innovation is one thing that Richport Properties has never shied away from. The Richport team was proud to introduce one of the first Traditional Neighborhood Development (TND) communities. Old Suwanee, a new home community in Gwinnett County, was Richports’ unveiling of their TND community in the Greater Atlanta real estate market. This ARC award-winning neighborhood emphasizes community through interspersed pocket parks and front porches within "talking distance" of sidewalks. Another innovation Richport capitalized on was the live/work townhomes at Old Suwanee Townhomes. This appealing solution to the need for mixed-use space has become extremely popular in recent years.
